About Lingua Forme

Let me introduce myself. I am Barbara Allen.

I lived and worked in France for a number of years and I am fluent in French. I am based in North Tyneside, and I also work across Northumberland and the Newcastle area teaching mainly adults.

I am passionate about language learning, I am a patient teacher, and I love watching my learners succeed. Whatever you want to use your French for, I will help you get there in any way I can.

Qualified, experienced and checked

Everything I teach is backed by formal language study and a teaching qualification, not just a love of France.

BA (Hons) and MA MA in French Area Studies, plus various other language qualifications
Professional Graduate Certificate A recognised teaching qualification, not just subject knowledge
Fully DBS cleared Cleared to teach young people as well as adults
Lived and worked in France Fluent French, learned properly rather than from a textbook
Barbara preparing French learning resources

How I work with you

Before your course of study begins, we sit down and talk properly about how you prefer to learn and what you actually want to learn. From that conversation I devise a course of work that will both stimulate and interest you.

I like to mix my teaching methods, so you will do computer based activities, audio work and plenty of speaking. That way every part of the language gets stretched: listening, speaking, reading and writing.

I also own Grab & Go Language Resources, which develops worksheets and resources for teachers and learners.

Classes run from complete beginner right through to advanced.
